Resatio is a visual artist by day and designer by night—though often vice versa—based in Adelaide, Australia, originally from Bandung, Indonesia. Known for his fusion of GIFs with collage techniques, his work thrives on absurd juxtapositions, digital glitches, and the unexpected, turning familiar elements into something uncanny yet strangely compelling.

His art has been exhibited in physical spaces such as Selasar Soenaryo Art Space, Omnispace, National Design Centre Singapore, Superchief Gallery, and Theatre of Digital Art Dubai; as well as in digital showcases with Fakewhale.xyz, FuturaDrops, and Artgumi, alongside numerous international exhibitions spanning Asia, Europe, and America.

In addition to exhibiting in traditional and digital art spaces, Resatio has explored blockchain-based art since 2021, minting on Tezos and Ethereum. Fun fact: he witnessed the sunset of H=N, a platform that fostered a raw, experimental energy in digital art.

His work playfully invites viewers to scratch their heads and wonder what exactly they’re looking at—perhaps even making them question the meaning of life.

Artist Statement

My art navigates the boundaries of the unconscious mind, decontextualizing familiar elements and presenting them in a surrealistic manner. Drawing from my background in design, I aim to evoke a sense of both unfamiliarity and recognition through an “ordered chaos” aesthetic that invites viewers to explore the unexpected.

My creative process begins with collecting a diverse array of images sourced from thrift stores or online, ensuring they are in the public domain. These images are then manipulated until they become unrecognizable, forming the foundation of my work. By integrating drawing and mark-making, I add layers of texture and depth, enriching the tactile quality of my work.

Through a dynamic layering process, both physically and metaphorically, I continuously develop, dismantle, and rebuild my pieces, allowing intuition to guide my experimental approach. This journey is as significant as the final outcome, resulting in artworks that range from highly detailed to minimalistic.

Ultimately, my art serves as a playful exploration of perception and reality, encouraging viewers to engage with the visuals and embrace the uncertainty within them. Each piece invites contemplation of the absurdity of existence, prompting reflections on our search for meaning in a world that often seems indifferent, inviting a dialogue with the chaos of life itself.
